Inks by Michael Yakutis (me!) over pencils by Ken Lashley
I did this as inking practice as suggested by SeanE
in the group InkersChallenge
- the group I recently joined.
Feedback on this piece is encouraged. I'm trying to get better at inking so constructive criticism is very welcome
Had a lot of fun with this one! Ken does really nice pencils and made this challenge very enjoyable. There are few things I had problems with:
1: I feel like the piece is lacking personality. This is partly due to my concern about #2....
2: I am unsure of how far I can deviate from the pencils. I don't want to step on the penciler's toes or disrespect the work by implementing too much of "what I would do." This is most apparent in #3...
3: I'm not too happy with how the foliage turned out in the background, especially the last panel. The way Ken penciled a lot of the leaves was simple hatching, but that didn't feel right so I tried to use more interesting brush strokes. They didn't quite turn out how I had hoped but hopefully I will do better on the next page.
Anyways, thanks very much for sharing your pencils to us aspiring inkers, Ken! I look forward to inking more of your work.
